Mission Statement
The CGI Charitable Giving Fund is organized to raise money for specifically chosen scholarships and aims to bring together family and friends through philanthropic gifting and a one-of-a-kind golf scramble.
History
What started as a simple day of golf in 2011 has transformed into a unique charitable cause, bringing together family and friends from all reaches of the Kentuckiana area. Over its history, The Charlie George Invitation (“CGI”) has donated proceeds to Holy Spirit Parish, the Ryann Tewell Scholarship Fund through Sacred Heart High School, the Steven Vanover Memorial Research and Scholarship Fund through the University of Louisville JB Speed School of Engineering, Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center in honor of Steven Vanover, Cross Cultural Solutions in honor of Graham Keeley and to a GoFundMe account set up to assist Pete Notcha’s in his fight against cancer. In 2015, the CGI Charitable Giving Fund was established through the Community Foundation of Louisville to maximize the impact of the tournament’s philanthropy.
What started out as a friendly day of golf quickly transformed into a competitive tournament. The tournament was cemented as a four-man scramble in 2013 and has expanded the number of participants each year.
